PnB Rock was an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and music producer. He was known for such tracks as “Selfish”, “Misunderstood” and “Gang Up” with Young Thug, 2 Chainz, and Wiz Khalifa. His discography includes the full-length albums TrapStar Turnt PopStar (2019) and Catch These Vibes (2017). Other standout projects include GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions (2017) and Money, Hoes & Flows (2016) with Fetty Wap. PnB Rock was signed to Atlantic Records. He was named to the XXL Freshman Class of 2017.

PnB Rock was born Rakim Hasheem Allen on December 9, 1991, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At age 3, Allen’s father, Raymond, was killed. With that said, he was raised by a single mother, Vivian, along with his four siblings. Allen got caught up in the legal system at a young age. He dropped out of high school and ended up spending time in prison. The Philly native also struggled with homelessness for a period of time.

CAREER
PnB Rock grew up listening to acts like Tupac Shakur and Jodeci. He was also inspired by his Uncle Moe to pursue music. The acronym “PnB” was derived from the cross streets ‘Pastorius’ and ‘Baynton’ in his hometown of Germantown, Philadelphia. PnB’s early tracks include “My City Need Something” and “On Fleek.” The first installment of his RnB mixtape series, Real N*gga Bangaz, was released in June 2014. He followed up with ‘RnB 2’ and ‘RnB 3’ in 2015. PnB Rock and Fetty Wap released their collaborative mixtape, Money, Hoes & Flows, in July 2016. The 12-tracked project was hosted by DJ Drama. It featured songs like “Addicted”, “Bet On It” and “Things You Like.”

PnB Rock’s 4th mixtape, GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions, was released in January 2017 by Atlantic Records and Empire Distribution. It charted at #28 on the Billboard 200 and #10 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album featured productions from Donut, Murda Beatz, Scott Storch, DP Beats, and a few others. It was led by the singles “Selfish” and “Playa No More” with A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Quavo. The single ‘Selfish’ sold more than 3 million copies in the United States.

In 2016, PnB Rock was named to Rolling Stone’s list of “10 New Artists You Need to Know.” The following year he was named to the XXL Freshman Class. In 2017, PnB Rock collaborated with rappers Young Thug, 2 Chainz, and Wiz Khalifa on the single “Gang Up.” He was also featured on “Horses” with Kodak Black and A Boogie. PnB’s debut studio album, Catch These Vibes, arrived in November 2017. It charted at #17 on the Billboard 200. The album was supported by singles “Feelins” and “Issues” featuring Russ.

In 2018, PnB released the songs “ABCD (Friend Zone)” and “Nowadays.” Later that year he appeared on the songs “Smash!” from XXXTentacion’s album ? (2018) and “Jump Out That” from Skinnyfromthe9‘s It’s An Evil World (2018). PnB Rock’s 2nd studio album, TrapStar Turnt PopStar, dropped in May 2019. It became his highest-charting project, peaking at #4 on the Billboard 200. The double album release featured collabs from A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Quavo, and Lil Durk among others. PnB appeared on the single “Cross Me” from Ed Sheeran‘s 4th album No.6 Collaborations Project (2019). His single “Fendi” premiered in September 2019. It was produced by Murda Beatz and featured vocals from Nicki Minaj.

PERSONAL
PnB Rock died at age 30 on September 12, 2022. He was fatally shot during a robbery at a Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles joint in South Los Angeles. Two suspects, Freddie Trone and his 17-year old son, were arrested and charged. A third suspect, Shauntel Trone, was arrested for accessory to murder. PnB Rock is survived by 2 children, namely Milan Allen and Xuri Lee.

PnB Rock was 5ft 11in tall and he was of African-American descent. His net worth was estimated at $3 million prior to his untimely passing. PnB has had his fair share of legal troubles over the years. At age 19, he was sentenced to 33 months in prison for drug-related charges. In 2019, he was arrested on drug and firearm charges.
