East Bay Tire Co. opens service center
East Bay Tire Co. has opened its first commercial service center on Maui at 140 Hobron Ave. in Kahului.
The service center provides tire sales, retreading and roadside assistance. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and offers 24-hour roadside assistance.
Headquartered in Fairfield, Calif., family-owned East Bay Tire also has service centers on Oahu and the Big Island as well as a retread plant in Honolulu, according to an announcement from the company.

Market at The Shops launches in Wailea
The Shops at Wailea has launched Market at The Shops, a farmers market that will be held at the shopping center from 4 to 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.
The market on the ground floor offers products from local farmers and specialty food companies, as well as entertainment. Participating center merchants also offer specials and discounts during market hours.
The first market was held June 28 and featured products from Kumu Farms, Maui Olive Co., Cupcake Ladies Catering Co., Shaka Pops Maui, Blue Door Bread Co., HI Spice, Maverick Events and Grown on Maui, according to an announcement.

Couple launches manapua business
A Kihei couple has launched Manapua Creations, selling manapua at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center Farmers Market, Maui Swap Meet and special events and by special order while looking for a permanent location for the business.
Walter and Dell Estudillo-Dudinow and their two employees prepare the baked manapua in a commercial kitchen in Wailuku and sell them from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center Farmers Market and from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays at the Maui Swap Meet on the University of Hawaii Maui College campus. Steamed manapua, as well as the baked variety, are available by special order.
Flavors include char siu pork, chicken teriyaki, chicken curry, Philly cheesesteak, pepperoni pizza, bacon and cheese hot dog, sweet red bean, tuna melt and Mexican taco. Manapua cost $3 each, $15 for six or $30 for 12.
“We make the more common flavors . . . but we also get creative and have other flavors,” Walter Estudillo-Dudinow said.

Sales underway at The Ritz-Carlton Residences
The sale of 15 remodeled homes at The Ritz-Carlton Residences started last month, according to an announcement from developer RC Kapalua Owner LLC.
The furnished one- and two-bedroom homes located in a wing of The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, feature updated kitchens and private lanai as well as access to the resort’s pool, fitness center, spa, restaurants, tennis courts and other amenities.
Prices for the residences start in the “low-$1,000,000s,” according to the announcement.
The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, was acquired in November by RC Kapalua Owner LLC, a joint venture fund managed by the real estate group of Ares Management L.P., SMW Hospitality LLC and Trinity Investments LLC.

Kihei, Molokai among ‘Best Places to Stay’
Kihei and the island of Molokai have been named among of the “Best Places to Stay in Hawaii” by TripAdvisor.
The online travel review and booking site’s analysis of the cost of a two-bedroom rental between June 1 and Aug. 31 found the median weekly rate in Kihei to be “affordable” at $1,728. A rental on Molokai was found to average $1,137 per week, according to a post on the TripAdvisor rental blog.
“Thanks to affordable rentals in Kihei, you won’t have to empty your bank account to explore Haleakala National Park, the road to Hana or Lahaina,” the post states.
Regarding Molokai, the article says, “Thanks to affordable rentals across all of Molokai, the entire island makes our list of best places to stay in Hawaii.”
