The family lived a peripatetic life until James suffered a stroke and the family had to settle in Plymouth with Tim’s maternal grandfather close by. James Curry was at the age of 45 when he passed away. How did he die? Keep reading to find out more.

James Curry was a Royal Navy chaplain

Tim Curry grew up in a religious home. His father James Curry was a methodist Royal Navy chaplain. His wife Patrica was a school secretary. The famed actor was not born into a show business family by any stretch; James Curry’s ancestors were County Durham builders and Patricia’s family were seafarers.

According to the actor, his father had an intellectual bent and wrote a thesis on ‘English Sea Chaplains in the Royal Navy, (1577-1684)’ gaining an MA from Bristol University in 1956. After suffering another stroke and a bout of pneumonia, Tim Curry’s father, Jim Curry died in 1958, when the actor was just 12 years old. Jim’s daughter Judith Curry who also became a concert pianist also died of a brain tumour in 2001. When he was struggling with his illness, Jim tried to stay active by building a Garden from scratch which the actor still remembers.

This made the actor restore the garden in a house he bought which was in a dilapidated condition. Tim Curry said about the garden- ’I made two patios with benches. From one you can see the sun rise and from one you can watch the sun set. Often I just sit up there and see what I imagine for the next project. If I didn’t have to work, I’d never leave. The 20th century has been very much about getting what you want now. Gardens are about making something terrific for those who come after’.

What is wrong with Tim Curry’s Health?

Jame Curry’s son, Tim Curry suffered a ‘major’ stroke in 2012, according to several media reports at the time. The 76-year-old British actor underwent physical and speech therapy as part of his health recovery. In May 2013, his Los Angeles agent Marcia Hurwitz told the Daily Mail that the Home Alone star is “doing great”.

“Tim is doing great,” Marcia said. “He absolutely can speak and is recovering at this time and in great humour. He has been going to physical therapy doing very well and still has his great sense of humour.”

Tim may have lost mobility after the stroke, Distractify reported, but the situation did nothing to diminish the actor’s love of being on the screens and making fans laugh. Though being in a wheelchair has led him to scale back public appearances, the Home Alone star still appears once in a while for certain special events and ceremonies. Not giving up on acting, Tim Curry has transitioned his acting career into one focused entirely on voice roles. Since his stroke, Tim has lent his voice talents to projects like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ribbit, and Ben 10: Omniverse.
